Laurence joined the IFS in 2020. He is currently a Senior Research Economist in the Retirement, Saving and Ageing sector and a PhD student at University College London. His current research explores people's saving decisions, the intergenerational transmission of inequality, and the effects of government policies on people's retirement decisions. Prior to joining the IFS, Laurence worked as a research professional at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
