In his Spring Budget, the Chancellor announced a 2% cut to National Insurance, amidst other measures on tax and spending.
What will the impact of the measures be? How will it affect living standards? And what choices face the next Parliament?
Joining us today are Helen Miller, Deputy Director at IFS and Ben Zaranko, Senior Research Economist at IFS.
Zooming In: discussion questions
Every week, we share a set of questions designed for A Level economics students to discuss, written by teacher Will Haines.
1. How can we have a situation in which tax as a proportion of national income is high, yet government spending is said to be tight?
2. Explain non-dom status and assess the possible impact of abolishing this status on government tax revenue?
3. What do you think is the biggest economic challenge facing the next parliament?
