Our findings are based on rigorous analysis, detailed empirical evidence and in-depth institutional knowledge. We seek to communicate them effectively to a wide range of audiences, and to maximise their impact on policy both directly and by informing public debate.

The IFS hosts or is a partner in three major research centres, including two ESRC research centres.

ESRC centres

Conducting multifaceted analysis of fiscal policy in relation to households and companies.
Developing, understanding and applying methods for modelling individual behaviour.

Other centres and grants

An interdisciplinary data resource on health, economic position and quality of life as people age.
Strengthening understanding of tax operation and policies.
Reviewing the state and operation of tax law in the UK.

TaxDev aims to contribute to more effective tax policymaking in low- and middle-income countries through partnerships with governments and researchers to build new data resources and tools, and conduct skills training, applied policy analysis, and high-quality research.
