The Spring Statement, due on 23 March, will take place against a backdrop of rising inflation, impacting living standards and the government finances alike. Two weeks ahead of this, IFS researchers set out their assessment of the economic and fiscal backdrop that the Chancellor will need to consider in a webinar funded by the Economic and Social Research Council.
The webinar covered:
- Developments in the economic and fiscal environment since the October Budget;
- The outlook for, and impact of government policy on, pay and living standards.
