Military spending dynamics in a changing strategic environment

<p>The revolutionary political changes in Eastern Europe since the autumn of 1989 have meant that the medium-term strategic assumptions made by the UK and its allies are currently undergoing a full-scale re-examination. In November 1990 in Paris, the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) leaders signed a peace declaration and treaty limiting conventional arms with the Warsaw Pact countries.</p>
