IFS Research Fellow Gabriella Conti has been awarded the Nick Hales Award by the International Society for Developmental Origins of Health and Disease (DOHaD). Her research draws on both the biomedical and the social sciences with the aim of understanding the developmental origins of health inequalities, and the behavioral and biological pathways through which early life conditions affect well-being throughout the lifecourse.
The award, in memory of the late Professor Nick Hales, is given every two years to a 'rising star' who is a DOHaD member and has made an outstanding scientific contribution to the DOHaD field. This is the first time it has been given to an economist.
Gabriella Conti will give a plenary lecture at the DOHaD world congress in Melbourne in October.
