Should the government remove the two-child limit?

With the government’s Budget and child poverty strategy fast approaching, there is much speculation about whether and how the government might change the two-child limit in universal credit.

At this online event, part of this year's IFS Green Budget in association with Barclays and with funding from the Nuffield Foundation, researchers from IFS and Nesta presented the latest trends on child poverty, and how the two-child limit fits in. They covered what is known about the effects of the two-child limit from quantitative and qualitative research, including on poverty, family stress, children's schooling, and childbirth. Lastly, they considered options for reform.
