The Institute for Fiscal Studies is holding its annual Public Economics Event for university students on the afternoon of Friday 8th January 2027. It’s a chance to see public economics in action: IFS researchers will give talks demonstrating how the tools of economic theory and data analysis are used to inform real-world policy, on topics ranging from tax to healthcare.
The talks are designed with economics undergraduates and masters students in mind, but are open to all. The event will also include a short presentation from current researchers about working at IFS and the job opportunities available at IFS.
This year’s talks will cover: the economics of wealth and wealth transfers; healthcare and social insurance; and income taxes and labour supply. Refreshments will be available during the break.
Please note that places are limited.
