They examine the relationship between individual willingness to cooperate and participation in accountability systems and collected survey data on 1800 parents of Albanian elementary school children. They involved the subjects in a public goods game and collected official data on voter turnout in the 2009 national elections. Individual- and district-level cooperation in the game is associated with participation in local and national accountability systems.
