Her fields of interest are public finance and development microeconomics. Her work focuses on analysing how the design of tax systems and other regulations affect the behaviour of individuals and firms in developing economies with low enforcement capacity, focusing on real activity, evasion, elusion and informality outcomes.
Before her doctoral studies, Lucía held a research position at the University of Costa Rica, joining academic projects as well as collaborations with international organisations and local authorities for policy analysis.
