Introduction
Many children in developing countries grow up in environments that lack stimulation, leading to deficiencies in early years’ development in some domains, particularly cognition and language. Various early childhood care and education programs (ECCE) have demonstrated a clear impact on these outcomes in small efficacy trials, but the sustainability of effects is mixed for interventions scaled by government as part of public policy. This study evaluates an ECCE programme found to be effective in an efficacy-trial when being taken to scale across Northern Ghana.
