Geographical inequalities

This event examined spatial inequalities in the UK: what the inequalities are, why they exist, how and why they are changing, whether they matter, how they relate to aggregate productivity and prosperity, and how they relate to economic inequalities and social mobility more generally. Also discussed was policy in relation to the goal of “levelling up” – including the way in which funding for key public services is distributed across the country.

This was one of a series of talks about the findings from the IFS Deaton Review, given by IFS researchers to civil servants across the Government Economic Service and Government Social Research Service.
