Gender Inequalities

Men do more paid work, and when they do it, then tend to be paid more than women. Women do more unpaid work and childcare in the home. How are these facts related to each other? How are they related to parenthood? How have they been changing over time, and why? What is the role of social norms, preferences and beliefs in driving these patterns, and what is the potential for further policy efforts?

This was one of a series of talks about the findings from the IFS Deaton Review, given by IFS researchers to civil servants across the Government Economic Service and Government Social Research Service.
