Fabrizio Zilibotti is Tuntex Professor of International and Development Economics at Yale University. He is a fellow of the Econometric Society, a past recipient of the Yrjö Jahnsson medal and the Sun-Ye-Fang prize (the most prestigious economics award in China). He is a former editor of Econometrica, the Review of Economic Studies, and the Journal of the European Economic Association. He was the president of the European Economic Association in 2016.

His research interests include economic growth and development, family economics, and the economics  of China. He has published articles in all leading economics journals. He has a co-author of the book “Love, Money, and Parenting” published by Princeton University Press in 2019 and translated in several foreign languages.  The book investigates how economic forces and growing inequality shape how parents raise their children. From medieval times to the present, and from the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Sweden, to China and Japan, it shows at how economic incentives and constraints influence parenting practices and the making of future society in different nations.
