Funded by the ESRC, this programme of work investigates economic opportunities across racial and ethnic groups in the United Kingdom, focusing on five interlinked domains: identity, education, crime and justice, labour market, and wealth and inheritance.

This review is led by Nobel Prize-winning economist Sir Angus Deaton and a panel comprised of world-leading experts in economics, sociology, demography, philosophy, political science and epidemiology. The project draws on a range of diverse perspectives to understand inequalities in income, wealth, health, social mobility, political participation and more. As well as deepening our understanding of inequalities in the twentieth-first century, this project aims to provide solutions.

TaxDev aims to contribute to more effective tax policymaking in low- and middle-income countries through partnerships with governments and researchers. We build new data resources and tools, and conduct skills training, applied policy analysis, and high-quality research.

To-date there has been limited systematic economic and quantitative analyses of changes of access to justice, people's pathways through the justice system, and wider effects on well-being for those experiencing the justice system. This project will address these knowledge gaps.
