Chancellor Rachel Reeves will present the Spring Statement on Wednesday 26th March. This was originally billed as just a routine update on the economic and fiscal outlook, consistent with the commitment to hold a single fiscal event each year in the autumn. Yet shifting economic circumstances and mounting pressures on the public finances may force the Chancellor to make more substantial announcements on tax and spending.
IFS researchers will present their initial analysis of the Chancellor's announcements on the following day, Thursday 27th March, at an online webinar.
