The Spring Statement, due on 23 March, will take place against a backdrop of rising inflation, impacting living standards and the government finances alike. Two weeks ahead of this, IFS researchers will set out their assessment of the economic and fiscal backdrop that the Chancellor will need to consider in a webinar funded by the Economic and Social Research Council.
The webinar will cover:
- Developments in the economic and fiscal environment since the October Budget;
- The outlook for, and impact of government policy on, pay and living standards.

Carl, a Deputy Director, is an editor of the IFS Green Budget, is expert on the UK pension system and sits on the Social Security Advisory Committee.

Isabel works in the Healthcare sector, and on the public finances. Their research focuses on retaining and developing the NHS workforce.

Tom is an Associate Director at the IFS and Head of the Income, Work and Welfare sector.
