In the lead up to the Autumn Budget 2017, the Institute for Fiscal Studies will present its latest assessment of the UK’s current fiscal position, the Government’s stated fiscal targets, and the constraints within which Chancellor Philip Hammond is operating.
This analysis will address:
- What the government's current plans imply about tax and spend over the next few years.
- How economic developments and policy pledges made since March are likely to affect the public finances.
- How the Chancellor might choose to adjust policy in areas such as public sector pay, health spending, corporation tax and working-age welfare.
The event will be chaired by IFS Director Paul Johnson and introduced by ICAEW Chief Executive Michael Izza.
