The economy is struggling with sluggish growth, high debt and rising taxes. What are the challenges of and choices for reforming taxes in a way that is pro-growth and fair? What should the Government’s – or the next Government’s – priorities be?

The Institute for Fiscal Studies joined with CIOT again this year to hold debates at the two main political party conferences looking at the tax and public finance challenges facing Britain as we face the upcoming election.

Speakers included IFS Director Paul Johnson and CIOT President Gary Ashford, plus Lord Leigh of the Conservatives. It was chaired by Rhiannon Kinghall-Were (Macfarlanes).
